Nikolai Grohovski is a Russian bass living in Finland. He continues in the footsteps of Fyodor Shalyapin and other Great Russian bassos.
He has numerous admirers in Finland thanks to his excellent vocal techniques, beautiful tone and spontaneous performance.
He studied vocal in St. Petersburg conservatory Rimskiy-Korsokov (1985-1991) and Helsinki Sibelius-Akademy (1991-1996). In addition to classical and opera music, his recitals include a traditional Russian Cossack repertoire consisting of nostalgic Romances and Gipsy songs.
Nikolai Grohovski has recorded for the Philips label.
